Shopify customer accounts are where signed-in shoppers check orders and edit their details, and the legacy version has been deprecated since February 26, 2026. A loyalty app reaches the current accounts through customer account UI extensions: a full page in the account menu, or blocks on the Orders, Order status and Profile pages.
Every app below lists Customer accounts on its Shopify App Store listing; they differ on what each extension shows and which plan includes it. Vendor facts come from listings, pricing pages and help docs, read on November 2, 2026.
TL;DR: Smile is our pick for Shopify Plus brands that want their loyalty program inside Shopify customer accounts: Loyalty Hub gives signed-in members a full rewards page in 20+ languages, a points balance sits on the Orders page and each order's page shows the points it earned, all on the same program as checkout, Shopify POS and Klaviyo. LoyaltyLion is strong when you want challenges and a wallet pass on the account page, and Okendo when reviews and loyalty come from one vendor. More Shopify Plus brands run loyalty on Smile than on any other platform (Store Leads, October 2026).
What Changed in Shopify Customer Accounts
Customers now sign in with a one-time 6-digit code sent to their email, not a password. In February 2026, Shopify said over 70% of Shopify merchants already used customer accounts and 800+ apps had built extensions for them (Shopify developer changelog, 2026).
| Date | What Shopify changed | What it means for loyalty |
|---|---|---|
| December 11, 2024 | Customer account extensions launched; "classic" accounts were renamed legacy | Loyalty apps began shipping account pages and blocks |
| February 26, 2026 | Legacy customer accounts deprecated: closed to stores not already using them, with no more feature updates or technical support | Loyalty built on legacy account templates has no road ahead |
| October 28, 2026 | A customer's first sign-in now enables the account and sends the customers/enable webhook | Apps that award points on account activation now see first sign-ins |
| Still open | A final sunset date for legacy accounts "will be announced later in 2026"; none was posted as of November 2, 2026 | Plan the upgrade now |
From the Shopify developer changelog, shopify.dev and the Shopify Help Center, read November 2, 2026.
Account extensions run on the current customer accounts, not legacy ones, and unlike redemption inside checkout they are not reserved for Shopify Plus.
What to Look for in a Customer Accounts Loyalty App
We build loyalty software, so we judged each app on what a Shopify Plus team checks before moving to customer accounts:
- A full loyalty page in the account menu. Balance, rewards, ways to earn, referrals and tier progress in one place.
- Blocks where customers already look. A balance on the Orders or Profile page, and the points each order earned.
- The same program at checkout. Whether it also redeems inside Shopify Plus checkout.
- Membership under the code sign-in. How the app enrolls a customer who never sets a password.
- A path for legacy accounts. What the app offers until you upgrade.
- Language, branding and plan. The shopper's language, your checkout branding, and the plan that includes it.

The Seven Apps, Reviewed
1. Smile: Best for Shopify Plus Brands That Want the Whole Program in the Account
Rating: 4.9 on the Shopify App Store · Built for Shopify · Technology Partner · SOC 2 Type II · 2026 Build Award winner
Smile is the loyalty platform for Shopify Plus and enterprise brands: points, VIP tiers and referrals. Loyalty Hub is a full page in the account menu where signed-in members see their balance and rewards, redeem for a discount code, complete ways to earn, add a birthday, share and track referrals, and follow their VIP tier progress (Smile Help Center, November 2026). A balance block sits on the Orders page, and the Order status page shows the points each order earned.
Loyalty Hub builds itself from your program with no code, follows your checkout branding and can replace the floating rewards panel. Every Smile surface in the account translates automatically into 20+ languages. Stores still on legacy accounts can link to Loyalty Hub directly, and on upgrade, members, balances and VIP tiers stay unchanged.
Best for: Shopify Plus brands that want one program across customer accounts, checkout, Shopify POS and Klaviyo.
Plans: Loyalty Hub and the Orders page balance come with Growth, $199 a month with 2,500 monthly orders. Smile Plus is $999 a month, billed annually, with 7,500 orders and a migration and launch plan; Smile Enterprise is custom, for retailers over $40M in annual revenue.
Proof: Great Garden Plants, a Shopify Plus online nursery, launched on Smile with Loyalty Hub inside the Shopify customer account. In its first peak season, 52% of active customers enrolled, members showed 50% higher CLV than non-members and bought 36% more often, and not a single support ticket came in about the program.
2. LoyaltyLion: Best for Challenges and a Wallet Pass on the Loyalty Page
Rating: 4.7 on the Shopify App Store · Built for Shopify · Technology Partner
LoyaltyLion has three customer account blocks: a full Loyalty page with balance and activity, tier progress, rewards and a refer-a-friend link; a Loyalty status block on the Orders page; and a Points for order block on each order (help center, October 22, 2026). The page also shows Challenges, on Advanced and Plus, and a Loyalty pass, a paid add-on.
Where LoyaltyLion is strong: a loyalty page that carries points activity, challenges and a wallet pass.
Best for: brands that want challenges inside the account.
Plans: Its features table lists customer accounts on Classic, Advanced and Plus. Classic runs from $199 a month for 500 orders to $549 for 4,000 on its pricing page (its listing quotes above 500). See Smile vs LoyaltyLion.
3. Joy: Best for Account Page Sections You Arrange
Rating: 4.9 on the Shopify App Store · Built for Shopify · Technology Partner
Joy's Customer Account Loyalty Hub, from its Advanced plan and on customer accounts only, is a full page of up to eight sections you can show, hide and reorder, from points balance and coupons to VIP tiers, referrals, a wallet pass and activity history.

4. Okendo: Best for Reviews and Loyalty in One Platform
Rating: 4.8 on the Shopify App Store · Built for Shopify · Technology Partner
Okendo Loyalty's account extensions work on every Okendo plan, on customer accounts only. Where Okendo is strong: points history and a dated tier target in the account.
Best for: brands consolidating reviews and loyalty.

Rating: 4.7 on the Shopify App Store · Built for Shopify · Technology Partner
Yotpo's customer account extension shows the customer's name, points and tier on the Orders and Profile pages, on every plan (help article, March 4, 2026), with a button to any page on your store.
Where Yotpo is strong: an account block on every plan, beside reviews from the same vendor.
Best for: brands committed to Yotpo Reviews.
Plans: Pro starts at $199 a month for 500 orders, then $0.20 to $0.05 per order by volume; VIP tiers sit on Premium, by quote. See Smile vs Yotpo.

Where Smile Stands Out for Shopify Plus Brands
All seven apps list Customer accounts on their Shopify App Store listings (November 2026), and most add a full loyalty page. Where Smile stands out:
- Three account surfaces on one plan. Loyalty Hub, the Orders page balance and the points each order earned, from Growth.
- One program past the account. Redemption inside Shopify Plus checkout from Growth (checkout apps compared), Shopify POS on every plan with one balance online and in store, five properties and eight events per profile in Klaviyo, and VIP tiers synced to a Shopify customer metafield.
- Every shopper's language. Account surfaces translate automatically into 20+ languages (multi-language; multi-language apps compared).
- Checked by Shopify, with a team for the switch. Built for Shopify, a Certified Technology Partner and SOC 2 Type II audited (May 2026). Smile Plus adds a migration and launch plan run by Smile's team (switch to Smile). See Smile for Shopify Plus.
Customer proof: CARZILLA, a Shopify Plus detailing retailer on Smile Plus, embeds the points balance on the account page and lets customers redeem right at checkout; redemption runs at 46%, and redeemers spend 169% more each year than customers who never redeem. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best loyalty app for Shopify customer accounts? For Shopify Plus brands, Smile is our pick as of November 2026: Loyalty Hub as a full rewards page, a balance on the Orders page and points on each order, in 20+ languages, on the same program as checkout and Shopify POS. LoyaltyLion suits brands that want challenges on the account page.
Do loyalty apps work with Shopify's new customer accounts? Yes. Apps add loyalty through customer account UI extensions, which run on the current customer accounts and not on legacy ones. All seven apps here list Customer accounts; they range from a points block to a full loyalty page.
Is Shopify getting rid of legacy customer accounts? Shopify deprecated them on February 26, 2026: stores not already using them can't turn them on, and Shopify stopped feature updates and technical support. A final sunset date is due later in 2026; none had been posted by November 2, 2026.
How do customers join a loyalty program with Shopify's 6-digit sign-in? On Smile, a customer becomes a member once they sign in with the code and a Smile surface, such as Loyalty Hub or checkout, loads. Since October 28, 2026, Shopify also treats a first sign-in as account activation.
Can I show loyalty points on the Shopify customer account page? Yes. From Growth, Smile shows the points balance on the Orders page with a button to redeem or earn, and adds Loyalty Hub as a full page in the account menu. Stores on legacy accounts add the balance block through the theme.
What happens to loyalty points when I upgrade to new customer accounts? On Smile, points balances and VIP tiers stay unchanged, and members stay members. Older theme-based balance displays don't carry over, so you add the account extensions in Shopify's checkout and accounts editor.
Do I need Shopify Plus for loyalty in customer accounts? No. Redeeming points inside checkout needs Shopify Plus, but account extensions don't: Smile's Loyalty Hub needs Smile Growth, not Shopify Plus, and Okendo's work on every Shopify plan except Starter.
