Two rules follow from Shopify's developer docs: extensions in the information, shipping and payment steps are for Shopify Plus stores alone, so redeeming points inside checkout needs Plus on every app here; and customer account extensions run on new customer accounts, not legacy ones.
What to Look for in a Checkout Loyalty App
We build loyalty software, so we judged each app on what a Shopify Plus team checks before launch:
- Redemption inside checkout. A signed-in member picks a reward or sets the points to spend, and the discount applies. Check Shop Pay too.
- A preview of the points this order earns. Shown before payment, it gives a reason to finish.
- Points earned after purchase. On the Thank you page, and on the Order status page customers reopen from the confirmation email.
- Loyalty inside customer accounts. A full loyalty page, or a balance block on the Orders and Profile pages.
- The plan that includes it. Some include checkout redemption on every plan; others keep it for a top plan.
- Discount rules. Reward combinations, codes locked to the member, and VIP perks that apply on their own.

Show points customer will earn puts the points the order earns in checkout (Smile Help Center, November 2026).
After purchase, a Smile block shows the points the order earned on the Thank you page or, on customer accounts, the Order status page.
